Steve Wille and Kelly Anderson of Ironwood Custom Builders combine for almost 60 years of residential construction experience; both being recognized as leaders in the industry.
Steve Wille, president of Ironwood Custom Builders, started in the construction industry in 1976 in New Jersey before moving to Utah in 1977. Steve continued to work construction in Utah before starting Supreme Drywall in 1995. Since then Steve has been recognized as one of the top drywall contractors in the state receiving honors in the Parade of Homes for “Best Drywall” and then “Subcontractor of the Year” by the nation’s largest production home builder. Steve also takes the time to give back to the community, as a contributor to the Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build Projects.
Kelly Anderson, general manager of Ironwood Custom Builders, began working as a carpenter building cabinets and furniture when he was 14. After earning a degree in building construction he started working as a framing contractor and began building homes two years later. Kelly has been an award winning Parade of Homes builder ever since, winning numerous awards for his entries in the Parade of Homes including “Best Paint” ,”Best Tile”, “Best Landscape”, “Best Finish Carpentry”, “Best Pool”, “Outstanding Master Suite”, “Outstanding Curb Appeal”, and “Best of Show”.
Kelly is heavily involved with the Salt Lake Home Builder’s Association serving as a board member from 2002-2008, an executive committee member from 2008-2010, and as the association’s 2010-2011 president. As past-president of the Salt Lake Home Builder’s Association, he now serves as an ex-officio, lifetime member of the association’s board of directors.
Kelly is also an active contributor to the Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build projects, having built and donated, in their entirety, four homes from 2005 to 2009; each built in less than 96 hours.
In addition to receiving dozens of awards for his Parade homes, he was the 2006 recipient of the “Golden Hammer” award for dedication and commitment to the home building industry, the 2008 “Spence Greer Volunteer of the Year” award by Habitat for Humanity and the 2009 “President’s Award” by the Salt Lake Home Builders Association for outstanding service to both the home building industry and community at large.
In 2012 Kelly was appointed by the director of the Utah Department of Professional Licensing to serve on the Architectural Codes Council for the State of Utah. The responsibility of the codes council is to annually review the building codes and then make recommendations to the legislature on amendments, additions, and deletions to the building code for the State of Utah.
In 2012 Kelly was named “Home Builder of the Year” by the Salt Lake Home Builders Association and also named by Professional Remodeler Magazine as one of the “Top Forty Under 40” best contractors in the country for 2012.

We could not have been happier with Kelly Anderson and the team at Ironwood Custom Builders. Our entire project took just over seven months from demolition to move-in. Kelly and his team worked hard to keep us on time and on budget. And when the little bumps came up along the way they handled them in a manner that was more than fair. The quality of construction and the level of service was beyond our expectations. We’ve all heard horror stories about construction projects and we can honestly say that our experience with Ironwood could not have gone more smoothly. It was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. We recommend Ironwood to anyone who asks, without hesitation!
Working with Kelly and the Ironwood team was great! The communication was excellent and any concerns were addressed immediately and to our satisfaction.
We had a great experience working with Ironwood from their overall professionalism to their punctuality. If you think there is value in these things, I strongly encourage you to talk to them about your project.
I had Ironwood Custom Builders do what would be a very small project for them, updating my kitchen (not a full remodel) and a few other things. They were the best contractor/service professional that I have worked with in my 16 years living in Utah. I have had a few disasters and am very hesitant in dealing with contractors … I would recommend Ironwood in a heartbeat. They did everything they said and always explained if there was a delay — a RARE quality. So happy with how everything turned out.
It was great working with Kelly, Steve and the Ironwood Team. Our basement is finished and looks great. This punctual team is detail oriented and worked to meet our budget needs. Communication was great; I really liked the weekly meetings. Highly recommended.
