Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Where do you work?
We work within the Salt Lake Valley, primarily along the East Bench. We also work in Highland, Alpine, Bountiful, North Salt Lake and in Summit County.
  2. What kind of work do you do?
We are a custom home building and remodeling firm. We build custom homes and offer full scale remodeling services including kitchen & bath remodels, basement finishes, complete interior remodels and additions.
  3. Can I afford a custom home?
A custom home doesn’t necessarily mean expensive. A custom home simply means that your home is built on your lot, your way, tailored to fit your budget. If you have a budget starting at around $350,000 (for the house, independent of the lot) yet you do not want to live in a cookie cutter home built by a production builder; then having a home custom built for you might be a good option.
  4. How long will it take to complete my project?
Every project is unique but typically bathroom remodels run 4 to 6 weeks, kitchens & basements 8-10 weeks, additions several months, and new houses can take anywhere from 4-6 months to well over a year.
  5. How much will my project cost?
Typical cost per square foot numbers can generally be used to assist in developing a preliminary budget, however until a detailed set of working drawings (blueprints) are complete and all selections have been made, it is not possible to make an accurate determination as to what the actual cost will be.
  6. Do you give free estimates?
We offer proposal preparation services rather than provide free estimates or engage in competitive bidding. Our unique approach provides a level of detail and accuracy that cannot be found anywhere else, giving our clients greater peace of mind knowing up front exactly what their project will cost.* Contractors who offer free estimates will typically not offer their best ideas or put forth the time and effort required to prepare a detailed proposal which can take upwards of 50-100 hours depending upon the size and scope of the project.
  7. How do we get started?
We begin by scheduling a complimentary initial consultation which will typically last 1-2 hours. In this meeting we will discuss as many of the details of your project as possible which will allow us to develop a preliminary scope of work and establish probable cost parameters to complete your project. Our goal then is to determine whether or not the scope of work will mesh with the amount that you intend to invest in your project. If the two are not compatible we can then explore alternative ways to reach your goals.
  8. What happens during the proposal preparation & design phase?
Once the scope of work and your targeted investment amount are mutually understood and we have both determined that what we have to offer will fit well with your objectives, we begin by executing a proposal preparation agreement. During this phase we will consult with you and the architect as the blueprints are being drawn. This allows us to troubleshoot the design and offer value-engineering to ensure that it is as efficient and cost effective as possible. At this point we will also assist you in making all of your selections. Once completed, we then have the necessary information to provide you an accurate proposal to complete the construction of your project.
  9. Do you do design work?
We have preffered designers and architects that we work with allowing us to take your project from concept to completion.
  10. Do you have lots available?
We typically do not buy land. Most of our clients come to us with property and for the ones who do not yet have a lot, we have preferred real estate agents that can assist you in finding property.
